This nest was much bigger that first anticipated. We will continue to remove wall board until the entire hive is exposed. At this point the bees have not begin to take flight. They are busy scurrying across the brood. A little bit of smoke puts the bees on alert and they begin to gorge the honey. |
| The comb was two layers thick and spanned the full height of this wall. This nest is probably two years old. The comb is very dark and aged. There are probably 30,000 bees inside. |

Now that the nest is completely exposed we can begin to extract the comb and the bees. Using a knife we cut the attached comb from the wall studs. The comb is then cut out in manageable sections and will be placed into standard frames. |
